The Inspired Word Dull of Hearing Of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. (Hebrews 5:11) It is amazing how long some people have been saved yet they still don't know the fundamental and foundational things about Christianity. No doubt they have heard simple truths all their lives; yet, they still lack basic Bible knowledge such as why it was necessary for Jesus to come to this earth and why it was necessary for Jesus to die on the cross and why we MUST be born again. It is not that people have never heard these answers. It is because they have heard with their natural ears and not with their spiritual ears. They have been dull of hearing for so long that it has become a way of life. During these last days, God wants us to be sharp with our hearing. He wants us to know the truth because that's the only thing that will set us free. (John 8:32) We will not perish for lack of faith. We will not perish for lack of love. We will perish for lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6)
